Mortal Vampires as I See Them

I have known about and loved tales of the regular type of vampires for years.
They have always fascinated me.
I have seen about all of the old movies and I grew up reading comic books.
They were the best.
When I got older the charm of the old Hammer films kept my interest,
but they still lacked special effects and the look of real people.
Somehow,
I think they were overdone in some aspects and,
well, raw in other areas.
I was glad when Hollywood grew up and got the computers in on the act.

I haven't lost interest in vampires over the years,
for some weird reason.
I guess they fascinate me now because I am an adult and I understand the romance of these creatures.
I've branched out in my vampire interest too,
to reading contemporary authors like Anne Rice.
She's a real romantic about them.

I recently gained access to the internet and I thought I'd try my luck at finding out some new stuff about the age old legend of vampires.
You know what I found.
I found Les Vampires.

At Les Vampires,
I initially just wanted to see what others were fascinated with about the vampires.
I thought it was a neat thing to be associated with an interest group that had vampires as their interest.
I figured I'd find some Goths who were making up their fasces and wearing black garments to get attention and maybe give some mystique to their personalities.

This is not what I found at Les Vampires.
I found down-to-Earth people who had a genuine interest in the legends and myths about vampires and I found that I was a lot like what a psy-vampire is described to be.
I found one other thing too, though.
I found that some people perceive themnselves as mortal vampires.
I was, at first, very skeptical.
You know this to be a fact because you were somewhat upset that I had discounted the reasoning behind the mortal vampire.

I have a very open mind and I am always genuinely interested in learning about new and different philosophies.
When you took the time to write to me via e-mail to enlighten me about the mortal vampire,
I was impressed.
I knew that you took your understanding of this as seriously as I had not.
When I read your empassioned statements,
I knew that I would probably learn something from you sooner or later that I could understand.

After many chats at Les Vampires and many other meetings online via the likes of ICQ,
I have learned that mortal vampires are like a lot of other things...
a definite possible.

I no longer question their existence.
Were I to do so,
I would have to question the possibilities of my basic beliefs and I have great faith in them.
I would learn more about mortal vampires,
so I associate myself with those who would be mortal vampires.

The mortal vampire is still somewhat of a mystery to me,
I must say.
But, I can understand the philosophy and the feelings of being different.
I lack only the medical knowledge that will substantiate such a condition.
I think that we all are looking for the same thing at this point, though.
I just wish us all well in our endeavours to help those who have the hunger.

Sincerely, Harry "EARON" Barnes
