*PERSONAL PERSPECTIVES ON VAMPIRISM*

Joshua

Section 1 : Beliefs and Definitions

Define vampire and vampirism.
a vampire is someone that suffers from an energy deficiency wherein they compensate by drawing the energy from another living creature into themselves.
vampirism is the act of leeching energy, sometimes in the form of blood, from one living being and giving it to another so that the vampire may sustain itself.

Would you define vampires as human or non-human?
human

Do you believe that there's more than one kind vampire? If so, what do you think those kinds are and what defines them?
Not really. Most vampires I know catagorize themselves as either sang. or psi. depending on their feeding abilities/preference.

Section 2 : Traits

Do you believe vampires are born, made, or some of each?
Born

Do you believe non-vampires can be turned into vampires?
No

If you think non-vampires can be turned into vampires how might that be accomplished?
It's a superstition propagated by movies, role playing games, and old folklore.

Do you think there are certain traits that all vampires share. What are they? If a self-proclaimed vampire doesn't exhibit these traits how would you classify them?
Other than an energy deficiency? not really. Vampires are still people and vary as much as anybody else.

Section 3 : Sang~Psi~Self-Perception

How do you know you're a vampire, or if you're not, what would make you think someone else was one.
As far as I'm aware, there is no definitive test. I tend to give people the benifit of the doubt as I'm not a vampire myself. I will however, call them on it if they start contradicting themselves or saying things that I believe to way off base.

If your definitions include "energy," define "energy." If not, what do you believe the vampire draws sustenance from?
Energy would be diefined in this case as prana, chi, lifeforce, boiplasma, ect.. Living blood seems to have a large concentration of this, although not all vampires are able to draw from it, hence the reason some psi's are not able to feed sang. Some psi's also claim to able to feed from the weather, earth, and the surrounding electricity, although I'm not sure if this constitutes actual vampirism or not. More testing needs to be done on it. Another form of feeding is sexual vampirism(my personal favorite).

Have you ever consumed blood? If so, how does doing so effect you?
Nope. As a donor though, feedings affect me differently, depending on the vamp and thier emotions at the time. If it's a really intense feeding I may feel sluggish and drained. However, sometimes I come away feeling revitalized. ( It's alot like sex in that respect.)

Do you believe in "psychic/psionic" abilities? If so, do you think vampires have enhanced abilities in this area?
Yes. I'm not sure about enhanced abilities but I do think that a number of vampires are more attuned int hat area than the average mundane populace. Then again, I've known a few sanguinarians that were as much of a psychic null as I am.

Do you beleive that all vampires need to consume blood or that some can feed by tapping energy directly(psionically)?
I beleive that eveyrone is unique and while it would be easier on the general vampire community to find donors in general if they were all psi, I belevie that there are sangs who cannot feed psi and vice versa. There are also those that can feed both ways. It's pretty much trial and error.

Section 4 : Spiritual and Social

Do you follow a particular spiritual path and if so what is it?
Christianity (non-denominational)

Does your spiritualiy or religion have any relationship to vampirism? Do you believe that vampirism has a religious context or is a religion?
Not particularly. I could probably insert a joke about transubstantiation but I won't. I don't particularly see vampirism a religion, more as a necessity. It may be possible to live with an energy defficiency but the quality of life would be terrible. If there is an easy, concise solution to your problem I don't see why you would refrain, other than spiritual and social guilt.

Do you believe in physical immortality, and if so can vampires be immortal? What about spiritual immortality?
I don't beleive in physical immortality. I'll grant the premise that energy never dies, it just changes shape. However, I don't beleve that it retains any memory or higher functions that would relate to reincarnation. I do, however, believe in an afterlife and I don't begrudge anyone for having differing views on what it might be.

What do you think would be the ideal relationships between vampires and society? What do you see the real realationship between vampires and society as being?
I think the ideal relationship would be society comming to accept vampirism as any other group that makes up the mainstream today. There will always be prejudices, but one hundred years ago society also shunned women, homosexuals and basically anyone that was not a caucasian male. If we've progressed this far, this fast, just think what could happen in the next century.

Do you think there should be an overall community or organisation for all vampires? If so how should it be structured? If not, why not?
That would depend if you can get everyone to agree on a particular heirarchy. From what I've seen I doubt it will ever happen.
