I had believed for several years that real vampires exist,
being aware of research others had done.
However, I was unsure of their nature,
although I did not believe them to be immortal or supernatural.
I suppose I have been seeking, since that time, to validate this for myself.

Vampire lore and literature is a hobby of mine, and since I am a nurse,
I also have a medical interest in vampirism.
My initial reaction in meeting mortal vampires was one of fascination, compassion and awe.
My surprise was not in finding that mortal vampires exist
but rather that they are not morbid or dangerous beings,
but sensitive, intelligent and caring humans with a great sense of humor,
who want to live their lives in peace, without fearing or being feared,
to be accepted for who they are.... some desiring to discover the cause of their special nature.
I continue to be a little awed....smiles..

Over ten years later, I am a friend, ally, and supporter within the V community.
I'm also the caretaker of the House Les Vampires,
a longstanding vampire interest and support group, elist and chat.
My awareness of mortal vampires and knowledge base has increased greatly
over the years; but more than that,
they've become 'family' to me and I to them I think.
